I have to admit I’ve never been one to attend rallies – that is, before this past Friday when I went during my lunch hour to the “Stand up for Religious Freedom” rally against President Obama’s HSS mandate which persecutes employers and others who don’t believe in contraception, abortifacient drugs and sterilization but will be forced to pay for it if the Supreme Court rules in favor of it. I didn’t know anyone among the 100 or so people who showed up in Rodney Square in downtown Wilmington…I just grabbed a sign and button and felt proud to be part of something I believe in – despite the fact I know several women who think it’s all crazy or who are so pro-Obama that they think it’s not so bad. I have to admit I thought twice about going - and about writing about it in my blog (although not too many people are following me yet!) What if it turns people away from reading my books? Should I remain neutral to sell more books? Then as I’m leaving, I saw police ticketing my car across the street (I thought I had put in enough change!) For a few minutes on the ride back to work I thought, maybe I wasn’t supposed to go…maybe this was a sign. And then I thought, that’s just the devil talking! I’m glad I went (despite the $40 ticket!) Because if we don’t stand up for what we believe in, who will? If you agree that Obama’s HSS mandate is wrong, go to http://standupforreligiousfreedom.com/
and let your voice be heard!
Bravo Michele! Stand firm and hold to the teachings the Holy Spirit has revealed to you!
Thanks Heather! I appreciate your feedback!
