“Summer’s lease hath all too short a date.†– (Shakespeare)
Summer is my favorite season and each year it flies so fast. I try to capture as many moments as I can…catching fireflies and swimming with my grandkids, going to the county fair or having steamed crabs (a must in Maryland) with friends, sitting on our patio out back watching a summer sunset fade into the night sky and gazing at the moon and stars with my husband…
Of course summer’s not over yet but I realize as I see TV commercials for back to school gear and get ready to head to a pre-season NFL Ravens football game that it will be soon. This summer has been particularly busy with my new book tour and because of that it seems I have had to squeeze in “free†time and fun. Such is life and I know it’s just another season of busyness…but this time instead of getting down over the imminent demise of summer and approach of fall, I am trying to stay grateful for what I have experienced instead of being wistful for what I may have missed.
And so it is with life…I remind myself I need to stay in today and be grateful for all of the blessings I’ve received from God…for the people, places, opportunities and yes, even the busyness and blissful quiet moments in between. Life is good.
