Are you living according to your purpose? If your answer is yes to that question, congratulations, you are likely among a very small percentage of people who are. Most people either a) don’t know their purpose, or b) do know, but can’t live it yet for a variety of reasons – time, money, health, other people, etc. For the past several years I have considered myself to be in the “b” category – and complained, saying “I don’t know which is worse, to not know my purpose or to know and not be able to fulfill it.” My purpose being to do write inspirational fiction (modern day novels based on Bible stories) to help others find a deeper faith in God. According to Deepak Chopra, “Everyone has a purpose in life . . . a unique gift or special talent to give to others. And when we blend this unique talent with service to others, we experience the ecstasy and exultation of our own spirit, which is the ultimate goal of all goals.” It is when I first read that quote in his book, “The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success” that I knew my purpose. Now, how about the rest – fulfilling it? Well, lately I have found that I am grateful and glad to at least KNOW my purpose. And I have also realized that I need to have faith that it will be fulfilled if it is in accordance with God’s Will (which I believe it is, since He put the dream of doing it on my heart in the first place). And the more faith I have, the less I need to struggle with the “reasons” why it’s not happening faster! If you’re like me and know your purpose but aren’t fulfilling it yet, try to have faith while you take action on overcoming your obstacles – and remain grateful. As it says in Romans 8:28 (my favorite Bible passage): “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” And if you don’t know your purpose, there are hundreds of books and life coaches out there that can probably help – you just need to take action to begin the journey of investigation! I believe that God did put each of us here for a specific purpose and our gift back to Him is to live it.
