Build the Kingdom Here, Now

Today’s Gospel about the one leper out of 10 giving thanks stops short of this passage immediately following: ‘The kingdom of God is not coming with signs
to be observed; nor will they say, ‘Look, here it is!’ or ‘There it is!’ For behold, the kingdom of God is in your midst.’” Right here, right now. Starting with me, with you – as parents, workers, children, friends. I included this very sermon of Jesus in my newest novel, The Runaway Prophet, due out next year based on Jonah. It’s one of my favorites. I think Jesus is saying not only do we need to be the one among ten who gives thanks and has faith – we also need to build the Kingdom here – today, now. Start with a smile, a kind word or deed. You can make a difference!
