Today I lectored at Mass and read the second reading for Ascension Sunday from Ephesians; it was where Jesus said we were all called to use our gifts: “…grace was given to each of us according to the measure of Christ’s gift…he gave some as apostles, others as prophets, others as evangelists, others as pastors and teachers…”; and the homily given based on the reading struck me; Deacon Tommy Watts who gave it said we are not meant to do everything…but to do one thing well. I needed to hear that because I tend to want to do many things – and then end up doing a halfway job on them instead of focusing on doing one thing well. I believe that “one thing” (for now) is writing Christian novels (modern-day stories based on Bible stories). I think we are all called – but few are chosen because few say “yes” to the call. I’m glad I have heard my calling – now I just need to keep doing the work of getting the message out! (and thank you to all who encourage me by your wonderful reviews!) Being an author is a lonely path so your feedback is much appreciated!
